Le « Blacklock » à Londres est une brasserie moderne qui réinterprète la cuisine britannique traditionnelle avec une touche de décontraction et de style. Situé dans le quartier animé de Soho, c’est le premier restaurant de la chaîne Blacklock, qui compte désormais plusieurs établissements à Londres et au-delà. Fondé par Gordon Ker, un ancien avocat qui a insufflé sa passion pour la bonne nourriture et l’hospitalité dans ce projet, le concept s’inspire des brasseries historiques qui ont façonné le paysage culinaire de l’Angleterre aux 17e et 18e siècles – des lieux où la viande, sous toutes ses formes, était au centre et où les portes étaient ouvertes à tous, quel que soit le statut ou l’occasion.

Viande de haute qualité à Soho

L’intérieur du « Blacklock » à Soho est une véritable expérience : le restaurant est situé dans une ancienne maison close, ce qui lui confère une touche d’histoire et de caractère. La décoration est un mélange réussi de chic industriel et d’ambiance chaleureuse – des murs de briques apparentes, du bois sombre, des lampes vintage et la lumière des bougies créent une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante. Situé un étage en dessous du niveau de la rue, l’endroit offre une ambiance intime et presque cachée. La cuisine ouverte avec son grill à charbon de bois est le cœur du restaurant, où les clients peuvent entendre le grésillement des steaks et des côtelettes en direct.

Cuisine britannique avec style

Culinairement, le « Blacklock » se distingue par sa viande de haute qualité, préparée avec le plus grand soin. La viande provient de Philip Warren, un boucher primé de Cornouailles, qui élève les troupeaux Blacklock sur des pâturages luxuriants. À noter particulièrement, l’offre « All In », où un assortiment de côtelettes fines – y compris bœuf, porc et agneau – est servi en pile sur des pains plats grillés, accompagné d’un accompagnement au choix. Les steaks « Porterhouse », épais et destinés à deux personnes, sont un autre favori, grillés avec une croûte parfaite et un cœur juteux et rose. Les accompagnements ne sont pas en reste : les « Beef Dripping Chips », frites dans de la graisse de bœuf, offrent un ajout croustillant et aromatique, tandis que les « BBQ Baby Gems » – des cœurs de laitue grillés avec une vinaigrette aux anchois – apportent une touche créative.

Atmosphère intime dans le restaurant

En plus des plats principaux, le « Blacklock » se distingue également par ses desserts, notamment le « White Chocolate Cheesecake ». Celui-ci est servi avec du rhubarbe poché et est considéré comme un véritable classique de la maison – crémeux, sucré et avec une touche de nostalgie rappelant les douceurs faites maison. La carte des boissons est tout aussi réfléchie : en plus d’une sélection de vins durables à la pression, il y a des cocktails préparés directement à table, comme un classique Negroni, servi avec un clin d'œil. Les bières maison, brassées en collaboration avec une brasserie en Cornouailles, complètent l’offre.

I went to Blacklock Soho when on a trip to London for a friend's birthday. We went before our show and had one of the best experiences in a restaurant I have ever had! The atmosphere was fantastic, relaxed and easygoing but still classy enough to dress up for a nice dinner. Our servers throughout the night were Paulina and Lucy who are a credit to the restaurant! Paulina was friendly and knowledgeable and was the epitome of an attentive server! Lucy was also so attentive and made sure we never went without drinks and checked on us throughout the evening. They were both incredibly friendly and made a fuss of our birthday girl without being asked! The food was amazing, the denver steak being one of the most perfectly cooked steaks I've had, the cocktails were well made, especially the lemon drop and the white chocolate cheesecake was fantastic! Everything was really reasonably priced and we will definitely be back!

Value for money steak. Prawn cocktail is just ok 4/5 for me. Garlic bone marrow- i feel like it lacks the melt in your mouth” factor; cannot pinpoint whats missing in the flavor. But again, their steak is no doubt highly recommended. Do not forget to pair your steak with their signature Blacklock gravy. Better to book in advance to avoid long wait especially on a weekend.

Outstanding restaurant. I travel the world a lot and this was some of the best steak I’ve had. Bread and butter dessert was worth the meal alone.

I had a great experience overall at Blacklock Soho—the ambiance was warm, and the service was excellent. However, I tried the barbecue cauliflower, and it wasn’t quite to my taste. The flavors were overwhelmingly pungent, with an intense garlic presence, and it was far too salty. While I appreciate bold seasoning, this one missed the mark for me. That said, the restaurant itself was enjoyable, and I’d be happy to return to try other dishes.

I know this place is known for their roast dinners and steaks, but we ordered the burger and steak sandwich which were just OK. The burger patty had the texture and taste of a processed burger from the freezer, steak sandwich didn’t have much steak in it and overall was bland. Should of paid more and got a steak

I had heard all about the famous Sunday roast from Blacklock and knew I needed to try it. I booked it four months in advance and when I went , I was not disappointed at all. I shared the two person roast with another person and at first I was weary about the portion sizes as often with roasts, you never really get enough of the trimmings but I would say at Blacklock, there was plenty given. Starting off with the meats, unfortunately the beef was quite disappointing, it was dry and had no flavour to it but the lamb and the pork was delicious. Although it’s a shame that the beef wasn’t good, it was probably the only downside of this overall good meal. The veg was probably the best veg I’ve ever had from a roast from a restaurant and the potatoes were perfect. Yorkshires were fantastic and so was the gravy, luckily if you want extra gravy, it’s free of charge. You have to order the cauliflower cheese separately but that was nice too. I would say that everything was quite salty but since I like a lot of salt generally , I didn’t mind but if you’re someone who doesn’t like salt then it can be too much for you. The house red wine paired well with the roast and I would say the service was fantastic, all the servers were attentively looking after their tables. After the roast I tried the cheesecake, it was good but nothing special. Overall though , I really enjoyed my meal and experience and would definitely love to come back for their roast.

Entrance is very uninviting. You'd easily walk by this place despite all the good reviews. Once you get inside you can't even get a table. No availability online or in house yet theres a few empty tables? What a shame. Won't be coming back.

A little bit of a wait for food, but great drinks, and lovely food. Service attentive. This may seem silly to say, but temperature of restaurant was perfect, sometimes steakhouses can be uncomfortably hot.

The lamb and sirloin steak were great - the best part. The staff were nice and really helped us with what to order. The shrimp starter, cheesy kale and chips with gravy were decent. We were full so didn't get dessert but felt there were limited options. The drinks (lemon drop and carribbean flavour) were not strong but the atmosphere was good.

千萬避雷! 點了兩份大盤牛排,每盤750g 盛惠每盤75磅,重點味道非常一般!Medium Rare 都很難咬,調味只吃得出很咸,sauce要另外買。 Sides 更一般,薯條是軟的,牛骨髓一言難盡。 服務更是難以形容,每次話沒說完就匆匆跑了,攔都攔不住。 環境在地下室,如果位置安排在樓梯下面那樣恭喜你,會有別人在頭上走的感覺。 人均30-50鎊的價格,不好意思外面大把選擇比這好。不要再被評分騙進來。
